    Host Plant: Bugguide site lists host plants in the Polygonum genus (knotweed, smartweed)

    Historical Range: most of the USA

    ​

    Our Experience with this Species: We have seen this species infrequently in the Keys but it has been found in Key Largo, Big Pine Key and No Name Key in the months of February and June

    ​

    Notes: This is perhaps the most colorful Lepidopteran in the United States. In the correct light, the iridescent scaling is most impressive
