BIOBLITZ 2018 RESULTS

BioBlitz was a great success! On June 27th on Big Pine Key and then on June 29th on Key Largo, we had over 30 people come out to evening events to take pictures of moths with a goal to see how many species we could identify in 2 nights.

We have a total of 124 species identified so far with 8 "UFO's" that we will work to see if we can get an ID on.

The Fine Family had a blast at the event and the kids really got into trying to find "new" bugs and photographing them.

We did have a full "strawberry" moon competing with our lights so we probably did not have the results we would have if we had a more favorable moon. These were the only dates we could swing so we needed to just "make it happen" and even though there were not a TON of moths, we did get some really neat pics of some really cool species. Check out some of the pictures here from the event. Photo credit was given to people that sent in pictures they took.

Below is also a full species list of everything we identified.

Thanks to all that came out to support the event and thanks to the US Fish And Wildlife staff that helped make the event a success!!
