Description: 40-48 mm. This is a dark brown butterfly with wide bright orange forewing tips and a white strip dividing the orange and brown. They have small tails. The ventral side is drab brown with orange brown forewing tips

 

Habitat and Distribution: hammocks and wooded areas in Central and South America. I have heard rumors of this species being found in the Keys but we are unaware of any confirmed records.
