    Freshly emerged Adult

    Description: 11-13 mm This is a small dark brown spreadwing skipper with small white spots on the forewing. The scalloped shape of the forewing makes this butterfly easily identifiable. 

     

    Habitat and Distribution: They inhabit wooded areas where host plant grows

     

    Host Plant: Suspected Iresine canescens in the Keys

     

    Natural History: This species once populated Key Largo but is no longer a breeding population in the Keys
