Description: ventral side olive brown with orange on the forewing. Above, dark brown with orange markings (male with a thick black stigma). This is a smaller species with wingspan around an inch

 

Habitat and Distribution: Widespread and common throughout the United States. David Fine found a single specimen in the Keys in the month of April in Key Largo. They are found in weedy fields, roadsides, wooded areas and roadsides
